    • Obituary
      Esther M. Havrilla (Polanesky) 97, of Hazleton, died on May 18th at Barclay Friends, West Chester, PA.  Born in Freeland, she was the daughter of Charles and Genevieve (Martin) Polanesky.  She was a longtime member of Most Precious Blood and St. Gabriel’s parishes in Hazleton.
       
      A graduate of West Catholic Girls High School in Philadelphia, PA and Misericordia Hospital School of Nursing.  She was a well-respected and much-loved operating room nurse and later a private duty nurse. She was often requested by doctors and families to care for their patients and loved ones due to the exceptional and compassionate care for which she was known. Esther found her greatest joy in the presence of family, and her unwavering love and support enriched the lives of all who knew her.
       
      Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her sisters Dorothy Polanesky and Jane Rogan, and her husband of 56 years, Joseph J. Havrilla Sr.   
       
      She is survived by her five children, Dr. Joseph Havrilla & his wife Karen; Richard Havrilla & his wife Carolyn; Mary Esther Sofair & her husband, Andre; Robert Havrilla; and Jane Dooner & her husband Thomas. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
       
      Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 21st, at 10 A.M. in Annunciation Parish at St. Gabriel’s Church, 122 South Wyoming Street, Hazleton.  Burial will be in St. Gabriel’s Cemetery.  Friends may call at the church on Tuesday morning from 9-10 A.M.
       
      In lieu of flowers, donations in Esther’s memory to Barclay Friends Caring Fund, 700 N. Franklin St., West Chester, PA 19380, would be appreciated by the family in gratitude for the loving care she received there.
       
      The Joseph A. Moran Funeral Home, 229 W. 12th  St., Hazleton, is in charge of the arrangements.
